Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series officially confirmed by AMG boss

Article by Christian A., on October 14, 2014

The brand new Mercedes-AMG GT is company’s successor to the SLS AMG and it appears that the manufacturer wants to follow the same success story it had with the latter. As a result, Mercedes-AMG is planning to introduce a Black Series version of its Mercedes-AMG GT as well as an open-top version.

Just like the SLS AMG Black Series, the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series will be distinguished thanks to a new aerodynamic kit, a stiffer suspension as well as a new wheel design. According to AMG boss Tobias Moers, sooner or later there will be a Black Series version of the Mercedes-AMG GT, which means we shouldn’t expect the vehicle until 2018.

Still, until the arrival of the new Black Series AMG GT, you can still buy the Mercedes-AMG GT S, the most powerful version that uses the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine producing 510 hp (375 kW) and 650 Nm of torque.

This model is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds, while top speed is 310 km/h or 192.6 mph. The 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT S starts at 134,351 euros in Germany, but if you want a cheaper version, the company offers the 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT for 115,430 euros.

The base version uses the same 4.0-liter V8 engine that deliver 462 hp (340 kW) and 600 Nm of torque. This model sprints from 0 to100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.0 seconds, with a top speed limited at 304 km/h or 188 mph.
