The AMG Cigarette Racing Boat was introduced at the 2010 Miami International Boat Show held recently, according to a report from AMG Private Lounge. In the past three years, AMG (Mercedes-Benz' performance arm) and the Cigarette Racing team have been in several collaborations.
This racing boat, which was developed in a two-year period offers 2,700hp, the result of the two Mercury Racing twin-turbocharged 552 cubic-inch engines attached to the boat. A Cigarette company official revealed that the boat has more than 100 technical innovations.
There is of course, the enhanced shape and weight reduction. The official said that while horsepower is the driving force, you have to look at the complete package.
The 46-foot boat has a top speed of over 130 mph (208 km/h) and boasts to have hand-applied AMG Alubem silver paint, which was used as well on the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
Designo Mystic Whyte metallic paint stripes complete the look. Passengers will surely be amazed at the marine-grade upholstery, inspired from the SLS AMG's white napa leather and AMG Design porcelain. During this event, a car -- Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG for the first time took part in the boat show.
Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing have been engaged in an enduring professional relationship built on mutual respect and product admiration. This relationship is what allowed Mercedes-AMG to provide both its expertise and materials in improving the Cigarette 46' Rider powerboat.
For instance, the new Cigarette 46' Rider comes in AMG-exclusive applied-by-hand AMG ALUBEAM silver paintwork, which can also be availed on the SLS AMG. When applied, this paintwork takes on the appearance of metallic skin. Fascinatingly, the light reflected by AMG ALUBEAM silver works to further highlight the Cigarette 46' Rider's character lines as well as its intricate design details.
AMG ALUBEAM silver uses nanotechnology, imbedding very small pigments of color measuring between 30 to 50 nanometers. Creating a wonderful contrast to the ALUBEAM silver is the AMG Designo Mystic White metallic – both finished in a bold design resembling the Mercedes-AMG logo.
On the other hand, the interior of the Cigarette 46' Rider powerboat is endowed with marine-grade upholstery similar to the two-tone AMG Designo porcelain and white Nappa leather that is available on the SLS AMG.
