Mercedes-Benz is currently working hard on the upcoming C-Class Cabriolet as the vehicle was spotted testing. According to inside sources, the new C-Class Cabriolet will make its debut next year and the car is expected to arrive just in time for the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Set to take on other German vehicles such as the BMW 4-Series Convertible and the Audi A5 Cabriolet, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet will receive a soft-top and almost the same engines found on the sedan version. This means that we will find the 2.0-liter petrol engine with 184 hp, but also the bigger 3.0-liter six-cylinder petrol engine that generates 333 hp (245 kW).

A hybrid version of the C-Class Cabriolet is also rumored this model is expected to receive a four-cylinder diesel engine as well as an electric motor and a total output of 231 hp. We could also see the popular 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 170 hp as well as the smaller 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 156 hp.

What’s more interesting is that the C-Class Cabriolet lineup will receive an AMG version, powered by the same 4.0-liter biturbo V8 found on the Mercedes-AMG C63 and C63 S models.

Just like the sedan and estate models, the AMG version of the C-Class Cabriolet will arrive with 476 hp (350 kW) and 650 Nm of torque, while an S version will get 510 hp (375 kW) and 700 Nm of torque.

Mercedes-Benz steps out with a new entry-level model for the C-Class. While this sporty and luxurious Cabriolet has an all-new identity, the German brand never ceases to amaze us with its usual styling approach. After all, the new C-Class presents a continuation of Mercedes’ “sensual purity” design language but now comes with a touch of youthful vibe.

In terms of its dimensions, the two-door Cabriolet’s profile bears similarities with the C-Class Coupé. Like the saloon, it also has the LED headlamps and iconic grille with diamond shape design. At first impression, the new Mercedes Benz C-Class Cabriolet features the same stunning front end with raised beltline and an extensively long bonnet shape.

The extended line over the rear wheel arches underscores the brand’s signature design. Moreover, Cabriolet’s lowered suspension appears sportier than the standard coupe model. Mercedes Benz also offers the Mercedes-AMG C43 4MATIC Cabriolet. This special edition model comes with AMG’s unique design elements and model-specific wheel upgrades.

The new C-Class has a total of 360L capacity or 285L when the roof is open wide. With its ample boot space and 17-inches standard tyres, the Cabriolet comes off as more practical for daily use. Furthermore, the entry model’s 0.28 Cd value shows how aerodynamically efficient it is compared with the saloon.

Both the interior and exterior were patterned after the classic Cabriolet mould for this new variant. Meaning to say, every detail coordinates with the rest of the features inside and out. One of which is the chrome accent along the beltline all the way through the soft-top cover, windshield and at the A-pillar.

As for the soft-top cover, the AT variant comes in basic black but is also available in multi-layer acoustic fabric. This premium grade soft-top cover considerably reduces wind noise and provides better speech intelligibility. Other than black, the acoustic top cover comes in other colours such as dark red, dark blue or dark brown.
