Mercedes-Benz collectors are expected to jump at the chance to get their hands on this new model – the S-Class Grand Edition. The carmaker, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary as well as 60 years of manufacturing its most luxurious model, has decided to reveal this model that completes its “trophy” collection consisting of the Elegance and Avantgarde. Mercedes produced 6,300 cars that were shipped to Italy. Meanwhile, 385,000 units will be delivered in other countries.
Mercedes added features to its S-Class Grand Edition that gives it a sportier yet elegant appearance. The special edition comes with AMG styling and performance pack that gives it a more aerodynamic design. AMG side skirts connect the front and rear bumpers into one solid design.
It has been fitted with a set of 19” AMG alloy wheels covered with 255/40 tires up front and 275/40 in the rear. The S-Klasse also has AMG brakes. The “Admiral Ship” Grand Edition has received a leather steering wheel, wood trim and stainless-steel sports pedals.
Two petrol and two diesel engine options are available for the anniversary edition S-Class edition. The S250 CDI features a 4-cylinder Biturbo that has an output of 204hp and a fuel consumption of 5.7/100.
Customers may also choose the V6 diesel BlueTEC that delivers 258hp and 620Nm, meeting the prescribed emission values for Euro6. Its larger siblings are offered with a V6 petrol engine that will be used on the S350 BlueEFFICIENCY generating 306hp and a V8 of 4.6-liter that develops 435hp.
The new Mercedes Benz S Class Saloon has recently made its grand entrance to the big car segment.
The newly designed premium car echoes the power and superiority of a first class vehicle. It gets a more enhanced styling with the new arrow shape grille and a new contoured bumper at the front with reflective chrome strips.
Other known standard features of the Mercedes such as the bi-xenon headlamps, LED lights, indicators and markers as well as the daytime running LED’s are built-in on the new S600 and S400 Hybrid models. All similar variants to be released in the future will come with the same exhaust tailpipes at the rear.
Expect more light inside the S Class Saloon to set the mood between ice blue, white and amber ambient lightning settings. Outside, the highly advanced double-C design at the taillights with 52 LED will turn heads no matter where it goes.
The Mercedes Benz S Class also sets the new standards on infotainment technology. The flagship model is equipped with the latest Split-View Display to let the driver and the front passenger view different content using the same monitor. The driver can concentrate better with the navigation system on display while the passenger can enjoy the rest of the journey by watching the hottest movie onscreen.
The Grand Saloon offers an extensive COMAND for the standard controls as well as for the display system. If there is more, a host of other features comes with the latest Mercedes S Class such as the USB and Bluetooth interface for hands-free functionality.
Enhanced user experiences await the drivers of the new Mercedes whether with the S6 or the S4 variant. Owners of the new S Class can easily import and export data into other similar segment or model. For longer listening pleasure, a special USB stick and iPod port can be accessed via the glove compartment.
