With this particular model patterned on the ML 63 AMG, Mercedes AMG remembers the success of the original high-performance SUV, the ML 55 AMG. The top M-Class version, started in 1999, was propelled by an AMG 5.5-liter V8 engine generating 255 kW / 347 hp, and is believed to be the originator of a new division of vehicles, high-performance SUVs.

The ML 63 AMG "10th Anniversary" amazes with its significant design: a fresh engine hood with power domes, radiator grille and Himalaya grey underseal for the front and rear end, Himalaya Grey 21 inch high-shine light alloy wheels, shaded Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic curve illumination, with its AMG 6.3 L V8 engine generating 375 kW / 510 hp, the AMG SUV makes a strong impact even when motionless.

The extraordinary composition of the interior is also fascinating: a fashionable tone is set not just by the dual-tone nappa leather upholstery on the AMG sports seats and AMG sports steering wheel in black / Alpaca green or black / light brown, but also the upper part of the dashboard clhthed in black designo leather, the black roof lining and the charcoal poplar wood trim. With the new ML 63 AMG "10th Anniversary", Mercedes AMG GmbH is commemorating ten years of AMG high-performance SUVs.

The ML 55 AMG, the high-performing top version from the popular first generation of M-Class vehicles, was initiated in September 1999 at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt on Main. As the originator of the new "high-performance SUV" class, the ML 55 AMG immediately became a best seller in the AMG series of models.

With a maximum power generation of 255 kW/347 hp, an engine displacement of 5.5 liters and eight cylinders, the ML 55 AMG provides a level of driving performance until that time unimaginable in this series: it could sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds, and had a ceiling speed of 235 km/h.

The remarkable merger of its unequalled drivetrain, superior off-road adaptability, exceptional driver comfort, unsurpassed safety and liberal interior thrilled AMG customers all over the globe. Over 11,000 ML 55 AMG units were bought between 1999 and 2003.
