Wolfgang Ungerer will be the new Director of the Marketing Communications department of Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, effective March 1, 2014. His new role will cover strategic key areas like Face-to-Face Communication, International Motor Shows and Brand Cooperation. Ungerer is currently head of Jaguar Brand Europe at Jaguar Land Rover.

He started his career in 1998 as a member of the "Associate Management Consultant Team," a special program that is part of the company's Management Associate Program.

Ungerer is replacing Andreas von Wallfeld, who effective January 1, 2014, became the new Head of Passenger Car Sales for the Mercedes-Benz sales organization. Ungerer will report to Jens Thiemer, Head of Marketing Communications at Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars.

"With Wolfgang Ungerer we have succeeded in bringing back to Mercedes-Benz one of the automotive industry’s top-class, internationally renowned and highly experienced marketing professionals,” Thiemer remarked.

He said that under Ungerer’s strategic branding, Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars will be able give an additional significant boost to their global growth offensive and to the opening up of the brand.

Thiemer's division is in charge of internal and external marketing communications of the Mercedes-Benz brand. It is tasked with making sure that both a defined brand positioning and a globally consistent visual identity could be achieved. [source: Daimler]
