MINI Clubman Hyde Park makes its debut

Article by Christian A., on April 19, 2012

The MINI Green Park was not the only special edition unveiled by the well-known British manufacturer owned by BMW AG, as the MINI Clubman Hyde Park also made its debut. The first visual impact with the car shows a discreet Pepper White body colour combined with Hot Chocolate contrasting paintwork, available for the first time, on the roof and exterior mirror caps.

The same Hot Chocolate colors is found on the bonnet and side stripes. A further facet of the MINI Clubman colour scheme are the lower sections of the C-pillar in body colour. The interior shows surfaces in Pepper White colour, while the seat upholstery and optional Colour Line draw on the entire range available to the MINI and MINI Clubman.

Just like the MINI Green Park, the Hyde Park is available worldwide in MINI and MINI Clubman body styles. Furthermore, the Hyde Park comes wit a choice of up to four engine variants: MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper Clubman with 122 hp, MINI Cooper D and MINI Cooper D Clubman (112 hp), MINI Cooper S and MINI Cooper S Clubman (184 hp) and the MINI Cooper SD and MINI Cooper SD Clubman (143 hp).

For those folks who don’t know, the Hyde Park spans 140 hectares and is famous for its Speakers’ Corner on the northeastern edge. The park is a haven for countless leisure activities in the centre of London and a green oasis that invites you to stroll between the shopping hot spots of Kensington and Oxford Street.

The MINI Clubman, with its split-door, is reminiscent of its well-known forerunners, the Austin Mini Countryman, the Morris Mini Traveller, and the Mini Clubman Estate. All of them had successful sales from 1960 and 1982. These classics were the inspiration for this new MINI Clubman, a completely modern car with advanced technology and features. The four Clubman concept vehicles illustrated the possibilities in creating a modern version of this vehicle type. And now their best features are entering the series production of the MINI Clubman.

MINI Clubman design will remind you of the previous classic, re-interpreting the exceptional features with modern designs and functions. Wood-framed doors with exposed hinges express the classic car back end, but the new MINI Clubman has doors that are aerodynamic. These doors merge seamlessly into the C-pillars.

The traditional rear doors inspire the colour scheme. The C-pillars and bumper finished in contrasting hues create an arresting door border. The rear door border colour also matches the contrasting colour of the roof, available as standard in silver or black. The MINI Clubman’s roof can optionally be finished in body colour, where only the C-pillars and the bumpers’ the upper section are in contrasting silver or black.

MINI driving characteristics offer enhanced functions

MINI specifically developed the new MINI Clubman for active individuals with a passion to purposefully stand out. The MINI Clubman keeps its sporty character and yet offers new and customisable interior options as well as practicality. Even with somewhat longer dimensions, the MINI Clubman maintains MINI's signature "wheels at the four corners" stance and driving characteristics of the MINI’s legendarily singular go-kart feel.
