MINI extends global partnership with Burton for three more years

Article by Christian Andrei, on March 1, 2013

MINI’s many-sided partnership with Burton Snowboards, the world’s leading snowboard manufacturer, will continue for three more years. MINI has been associated with Burton Snowboards since 2011. Since the alliance started, MINI and Burton have formed first-rate snowboarding competitions and events throughout the world.

These include the Burton US Open, the Burton European Open, Burton Rail Days in Tokyo and the Burton High Fives in New Zealand. Since the partnership will continue, the two companies will be able to touch more people who are into the snowboarding lifestyle.

Since MINI is the presenting partner of the Burton Global Event Series (BGES), it will be joining Burton in efforts to create world-class snowboard contests in the U.S., New Zealand, Japan and Europe.

These competitions include art installations, creative contests and entertainment events. The Burton European Open in Laax, Switzerland that took place on Feb. 4-9 is the first event in the European tour. At this unique art event, visitors saw MINI’s “Creative Use of Space” philosophy. It featured a MINI Countryman inside a large glass container.

Snowboard artists of the PirateArtCrew gave the MINI Countryman a creative makeover. At the same time, snowboards were present at the Burton European Open. Furthermore, the MINI Test Drive Center in Laax gave visitors the chance to test-drive models from the MINI lineup.

The next event is the Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships that MINI will be presenting from Feb. 25 to March 2 in Vail, Colorado. For the second straight year, MINI will bring back the MINI Feature Award. This contest will be participated in by the slopestyle course designers for the Burton European Open in Laax and the Burton US Open in Vail.
