More details of the next-generation Porsche Cayenne

Porsche is currently working on the next generation Cayenne, a star range wannabe on which the famous luxury car producer is betting every dime on it. The new design, signed by Michael Mauer's team, shows a more elegant look with more curves which reminds of the 911's classic design.

For a more delicate appearance the sides had been pushed inwards and the front was redesigned receiving a 911-shaped bonnet. Keeping the line of the 911 the tail-lights with rhombus aspect are reeled round the rear wings.

Under the hood the new model will get a reworked direct-injection V8 engine capable of 395bHP reaching 100km/h in 5 seconds.

The new Cayenne will also have available a version with a turbocharged V8 capable of 493 bhp reaching 100km/h in 4.3 sec and another version with the Turbo S, the top of the series, capable of 560 bhp.The new Cayenne range will be launched next year and together with it it's expected also a Hybrid version for release.

This model will feature a full parallel hybrid system, as the company's officials claim, and will get an additional clutch and electric engine between the powertrain and the transmission.

This gives the possibility to use it separately, disengaging either the engine or the electric motor, both can be also driven using both system as a joint power unit. The hybrid Cayenne in environmental oriented and is able to reach a 30% fuel saving.
