This sketch of the Morgan Eva GT provided exclusively by the company to Autocar is a preview of the latest model from one of Britain's few remaining independent sports car makers. Official details about this new Morgan vehicle will be announced during its launch this weekend at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California this weekend.
But it's believed that this two-plus-two coupe is based on the firm's bonded aluminum Aeromax platform and features BMW's 302bhp 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight six engine. With a weight that'sless than 1.3 tons, this car is expected to accelerate from zero to 60mph in less than 5.0sec and averages 40mpg.
Morgan director Charles Morgan said that production of the Eva GT will start at Pickerleigh Rd in 2012. Morgan plans to build 100 cars for this series and will begin taking deposits this Sunday.
Morgan also said that its goal with the Eva GT is to make a practical car that could be used daily and is able to respond to the transport needs of the entire family.
The model has two large doors and seats four adults. It features a large boot that's "considerably deeper" than that of the Supersports.
The Eva GT is a fun car to drive and features sensitive hydraulic power steering and excellent chassis balance. The car also features a mass that is evenly distributed within the axles and it has short overhangs.
