Mulliner Driving Specification now available for 2007 Bentley Continental Flying Spur

Article by Christian Andrei, on February 28, 2006

Customers can now avail of the Mulliner Driving Specification for the Bentley Continental Flying Spur as part of a number of upgrades for the MY2007 Continental range. This specification injects more style, technology, comfort and customization to the Continental Flying Spur and the Continental GT coupé.

Bentley first introduced the Mulliner Driving Specification on the Continental GT coupé in 2004, and the move proved to be a huge success particularly with Bentley owners who prefer a more overtly sporting, contemporary character for their machines.

The specification was designed by Bentley’s bespoke coach-building division, and could also be availed for the Continental Flying Spur. The Mulliner Driving Specification includes two 20-inch seven-spoke alloy sports wheels with 275/35 R20 sport tires; sporting gear lever finished in knurled chrome and hide; drilled alloy sports foot pedals and footrest; diamond quilted and indented hide to seat facings, front and rear doors; embroidered ‘Bentley’ marque emblem to head rests; choice of upgraded veneers (Dark-stained Burr Walnut or Piano Black) for free of charge; and indented hide headlining.

For the 2007 model year, Bentley made a number of improvements on the Continental Flying Spur. For instance, the car’s standard-fit satellite navigation system has shifted from being CD-based to DVD-based and now features post code-entry programming. The DVD-based system boasts of aster input and faster response times than a CD-based one. Likewise, the new system could store more data and could even have the whole of Europe mapped on a single disc.

Likewise, Continental Flying Spur is equipped with the latest in wireless telecommunications -- an integrated Bluetooth remote SIM access profile (rSAP) telephone system coming as standard. Customers could ask for a rear-seat telephone as an option. Also fitted as standard is a new 19-inch, five-spoke alloy wheel design, which provides the Continental Flying Spur a more sporting look.

The wheels could be requested in chromed finish as a paid option. Likewise, a new 19-inch 5-spoke alloy wheel with a bright-machined or chromed (at extra cost) finish could be availed as an option. On the other hand, Bentley is introducing a new service -- exterior paint-matching – that will enable Continental Flying Spur customers to create a bespoke machine with the color of their choice.

The MY2007 Continental Flying Spur could also be finished with any color from the current Arnage range. Other options include veneered picnic tables to the rear of both front seats – all available in the full range of veneers, including Chestnut. Customers could also specify optional contrast stitching to the leather hides as well as match the boot carpet to the cabin interior carpets.

As for the Continental GT coupé, it will also have many new features found in the new Continental Flying Spur like the DVD-based satellite navigation system and the Bluetooth remote SIM access profile (rSAP) telephone system. Also fitted on the Continental Flying Spur are new 19-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels also found on the Continental Flying Spur.

Customers may also opt for the 20-inch seven-spoke alloy wheel in bright machined or chromed finish. Bentley will start taking orders for the MY2007 Continental GT and Continental Flying Spur in March 2006. Meanwhile, customers of the Continental Flying Spur, could also avail of other individual features as part of the Mulliner Driving Specification like Mulliner alloy fuel filler cap; drilled alloy sport foot-pedals; sporting gear lever finished in knurled chrome and hide; and four-spoke wood and hide steering wheel.

Also available are an exterior paint match service to customer specification; exterior paint color from Arnage range; contrast stitching to seats and door panels; aluminum fascia panels; lambs wool rugs; deep-pile carpet mats with hide trimming; Olive Ash premium veneer; rear veneer picnic tables; rear vanity mirrors to picnic tables; refrigerated bottle cooler in lieu of rear ski hatch; rear entertainment package that incorporates two LCD screens to headrests and DVD multi-changer; boot carpet to match interior carpet.
