New Citroen DS5 to make its UK debut at the Top Gear Live this November

Article by Christian A., on October 19, 2011

New Citroën DS5 is set to make its premiere in the United Kingdom on the Citroën display stand at Top Gear Live this November, showing up at the ExCel London and the NEC Birmingham sites. This will be the UK public’s first time to view one of the most expected new vehicles for 2012 -- the peak of the exclusive DS range and the top flagship model for Citroën.

Exclusively designed, beautifully appointed and full of "Créative Technologie", DS5 is a resolutely contemporary and original approach to the premium executive vehicle. DS5 is Citroën's first production to offer full-hybrid diesel technology, incorporating strong performance and extremely low carbon dioxide emissions from only 99g/km.

Influenced by the realm of aircraft including pilot-style overhead switches, DS5’s cabin combines ergonomic functionality with aesthetic style. Perfect attention to detail and genuine high grade materials make sure that an instantaneous impression of refinement and quality is achieved. DS5 is an aerodynamic work of art with flowing lines, a dynamic profile and taut features. Eye-catching details include slender chrome "sabres" running from the tips of the headlamps to the front windows.

The model’s small and nimble design provides meticulous soundproofing and excellent handling for a completely appealing driving experience. The new Citroën DS5 will be introduced in the UK early next year.

The Top Gear Live will be graced by Clarkson, Hammond, May and The Stig, among other celebrities. It will be held on November 11 to 13 at NEC Birmingham and November 24 to 27 at ExCeL London. Further details are available at www.topgearlive.co.uk.

Citroën DS5 continues to surprise especially when it comes to style, the singular proportions and the outline that is easily recognizable. Its body has the appearance of a shooting break overcome with the Gran Turismo’s spirit. Not really surprising as the C-Sport Lounge concept car served as the inspiration for the Citroën DS5. For the brand, the goal was to advance a real production vehicle even further.

A truly distinct vehicle, the sculpture of the Citroën DS5 has an aerodynamic form now composed of flowing stretched lines, and gives the promise of an amazing drive. The personality of the Citroën DS5 can be observed in its profile.

Its body for instance projects vitality as well as the assurance of having an interior that is well-appointed. The sides are sculpted in a way that they catch the attention of those looking at it due to how light and shadow interrelates. There is a lean chrome sabre, which reflects light, and starts from the headlamp’s tip and goes all the way to the front window.

This sabre has been cast in one piece and marks the style of the exterior. Meanwhile the shadow of its edges is held in the lower curves of its rear wing, a unique quality seen in the DS line. Going to the front end, it is easy enough to recognize that the Citroën DS5 is indeed a part of the DS family due to the oversized air intake and the chrome-plated and wide grille that houses the badges.

Also helping is the sharp gaze that is highlighted by the LED light signature. Its rear end meanwhile puts focus on the vehicle’s rank on the road. Sitting evenly on its wide tracks, the Citroën DS5 is highlighted by the twin exhaust pipes on its rear bumpers as well as the signature six light guides.
