Euro NCAP, an independent vehicle assessment group, has awarded the New Generation Hyundai i30 a five-star safety rating, making it one of the safest vehicles in the C-segment. The five-star rating came after the New Generation i30 recorded excellent results from the rigorous test process conducted by NCAP.
New Generation i30 scored 90% in the ‘child occupant' category, gaining maximum points for its protection in both the ‘18-month-old' and ‘3-year-old' tests. The New Generation i30 likewise scored 90% in the ‘adult occupant' category, as the vehicle is assessed as being able to provide good protection for drivers and passengers. The i30’s head restraint and seat particularly received praise for providing good protection against whiplash injuries in case of rear-end collisions.
The car also scored 86% in the ‘safety assist' category, attributed mainly to its electronic stability system as well as to its front and rear seatbelt reminder system. The New Generation i30 likewise scored well in the ‘pedestrian' test, with maximum points given for the bumper's protection of pedestrians' legs.
Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, remarked that the five-star rating given to the New Generation i30 demonstrates the company’s commitment to provide “the highest levels of safety for Hyundai customers.” Rushfort added that the five-star rating give customers another reason to acquire the New Generation i30, which is produced in Europe.
The New Generation i30 is the seventh consecutive Hyundai model to receive a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, following models i30, i20, ix35, ix20, i40 and Veloster. European buyers of the New Generation i30 will receive Hyundai’s Five Year Triple Care, a customer assurance package that offers a five-year warranty with no mileage limit, a five-year roadside assistance, and five-year vehicle health checks.
i30 is Hyundai’s latest illustration of its fluid and flowing sculpting design dynamics. This visual ethos uses continuously seamless lines for a constant impressive 3D look on Hyundai’s vehicles.
Hyundai designed the new i30 generation using powerful, liquid lines for a sculptured car with sporty looks that radiates endless motion, even when the vehicle is standing still. The strong, impressive stance transmits a confidence and attitude with athletic traits and energetic dimensions. In this way, it is like the new i40, and the Hyundai's powerful design aesthetic and DNA are easily recognisable in both models.
Key to the i30’s sportier look is its purposefully bigger track. The body is wider by 5 mm; the front track is increased by 17 mm and the rear is increased by 27 mm, moving the wheels out to be flushed with the arches. This lifts the car up to create a better road grip.
The windscreen base is 84 mm forward and is lowered by 26 mm. This reduces the vehicle’s resistance to wind and drag, for a 0.30 Cd, which is 10 percent better than previous models. The i30’s profile has more subtlety with a chromed belt moulding under the glass house (for Style variations) and 16-inch alloy wheels that were given a new look.
Its compelling look when in action is furthered with standard (for all models) LED running day lights. The new i30 also has the signature Hyundai front with a hexagon grille and comes in either a single coloured body or matching horizontal chrome trim bars.
