Land Rover will launch the all-new, fourth-generation Range Rover flagship in autumn 2012. There’s plenty of excitement for this car as sources claim that it is the most radical and most advanced in the history of the brand. Eleven years have passed since the launching of this BMW-engineered model. The Mk4 Range Rover, which is codenamed L405, is inspired by the sporty styling cues of the new Evoque and so it has to eliminate several features that have long been identified with Range Rover.
Its interior is filled with high-quality and luxurious elements, says Autocar. The Range Rover Mk4 is bigger but it is actually significantly lighter than the existing car by almost a ton because it uses a new pressed aluminum monocoque. The new aluminum platform is a bit wider and is longer by about 25mm than the current car.
But with this new architecture, the rear wheels have been moved further to the back of the car. The advantage is that its rear legroom is bigger by up to 125mm, comparable to most luxury vehicles. Cabin access is better with the longer rear doors. This new car features a windscreen that’s more steeply raked. Its roofline is also more sloping than the current Range Rover Sport. The headlamps and rear light clusters – a highlight of the current car – have become slimmer and are not as prominent. The vent in the front wing is significantly slanted, showing off the windscreen’s angle.
The latest Range Rover has clearly been made from scratch to become what may be the most capable and the most Range Rover there is. By utilizing the latest technologies in chassis and body, it enhances refinement, road-handling, and accessibility of the off-road capability. Overall, the new Range Rover brings its all-terrain performance to an entirely different level. This is because inside the Range Rover are a number innovations considered as ground-breaking and even industry-leading.

The elegant and clean shape is obviously inspired by a reinterpretation of the usual design cues this model is known for. While the new model can still be recognized as a Range Rover, it also moves forward by implementing a bold evolution of its iconic design language.
Despite the new model having a footprint the same as the previous one, it is still barely 5 meters in length. However the profile is more streamlined and sleeker with the roofline in access mode lower by 20 millimeters. This is clearly the most aerodynamic Range Rover there is and proof is its 0.34 drag coefficient. On the interior, the rear compartment is able to offer more comfort and space as the legroom is larger by 118 millimeters.
For those who want the best luxury for the rear seat, the company is offering the option to have the Executive Class two-seat seating package. For customers who want their very own bespoke model, the lavish atmosphere of the interior can be customized to fit their needs with a wide range of special details, colors, and finished. This includes the color-themed and immaculately-trimmed interior coming from the Autobiography series. There are also the alloy wheels with a wide range of style and diameter of up to 22 inches.
