Mr. Akira Sakurai, MD & CEO for Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd., commented that the launch of exports of its Indian-produced 2011 Micra units is a remarkable achievement. Sakurai added that the company is thankful for the cooperation and the untiring efforts of everyone, from the employees, to the partners, and even the suppliers.
Because of this, the milestone was realized despite the short period allotted for it, Sakurai shared. This is indeed an important moment as it shows the company’s success in establishing trade relations with India. Sakurai also mentioned the support given by Government authorities.
Nissan had a successful test of the first trial consignment in April of this year. Six cars made the trip from the Oragadam Plant to the Ennore Port and then to Barcelona. Made on a versatile V-platform, the Nissan Micra export model was manufactured to conform with different environmental rules and safety regulations as applied to the different developed markets.
A global compact car, the Micra was originally designed and first tested in Japan. It was then fine-tuned in order to meet the different needs and preferences of customers around the world. The Micra is a car for people who want to drive everyday and want something that is not just stylish and reliable but also one that is eco-friendly.
Despite being a compact hatchback, it has a pleasant and friendly appearance and was also made to ensure active performance, easy handling, and of course, it was built to lead the class when it comes to fuel efficiency.
Located near Chennai, the Oragadam plant complies with the Alliance Global Manufacturing Processes and Quality Standards. Launched for the first time in any Nissan and Renault is the production management system that was founded on the sharing of knowledge and best practices.
