The custom Rolls-Royce Maharaja Phantom Drophead Coupé was designed especially for the Dubai market. This exclusive vehicle revealed at the AGMC Rolls-Royce showroom is a one-of-a-kind model and draws its inspiration from the bygone era of the Raja and in particular the glorious golden age of India.
Looking into the past, the designers examined how over a hundred years ago Indian royalty developed a unique relationship with Rolls-Royce, one which saw an unprecedented number of bespoke vehicles created. Each of which was designed to test what was possible in a Rolls-Royce and led to a partnership which saw over 800 hand-crafted vehicles from the heart of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England delivered to India.
This was a development which earned the company the 'Best Car in the World' award and its designers created an unheard of number of modifications to the style, comfort and performance of its vehicles.
In recreating this Golden moment, Rolls-Royce has unveiled its latest collection of vehicles. A series of cars inspired by the Maharajas and the Phantom Drophead Coupé is but the first.
Osman Abdelmoneim, the General Manager at AGMC said that by revealing this one-of-a-kind vehicle in Dubai, Rolls-Royce is announcing how it feels about the market and how important it is to them. It also serves to stress its commitment.
The possibilities within the bespoke marketplace have prompted great interest in the area and the Rolls-Royce's programme promises the heights of luxury and customisation to those within the community.
Abdelmoneim continued that all of its cars at Rolls-Royce represent the pinnacle of what's possible. The achievements can be seen in the Maharaja Phantom Drophead Coupé and belong to its customers as much as the company.
As well as the customisation of each vehicle, there are a number of additional elements which have been added including a change in colour. The Phantom is now available in a stunning Carrara White, a green coachline and emblazoned with a Peacock, which is India's national bird, on the bonnet. The green extends to the hood and the Peacock emblem can also be seen on the inlaid woodwork.
The interior changes are also striking with the Crème Light leather blending perfectly with the Emerald green highlights throughout. The marquetry continues on the panel tops and the arm rests with some extensive creativity as the headrests also feature the Peacock symbols and come in the same Emerald green and an elegant Cobalto blue. Additional work on the side and central arm rests include peacock feathers in an exquisite Seashell stitching and the Colbalto blue as seen on the headrest is prevalent at key points to highlight the green lining.
Marketed to Dubai's elite, the Phantom is one of Rolls-Royce's crowning achievements. With over two years of design and effort, it comprises the wishes and dreams of a prior age and brings them today's technology. It is innovative, exudes elegance and a fitting first in the new Bespoke Programme.
