Despite the Pagani Zonda's reputation as being one of the most dramatically styled and exclusive supercars in recent production, its creator Horacio Pagani has even more ambitious plans for a new model set to enter production later this year. The Zonda was only offered to a few select markets but this new car (given the internal code C9) is billed as a global model.
Finally, buyers in the US will be able to appreciate all that Pagani brand has to offer on local soil. Horacio Pagani shared details about the C9 with the Argentina Auto Blog.
Pagani said that the new C9, which will have the 6.0-liter V-12 engine developed together with Mercedes-Benz and AMG, will be introduced towards the end of the year.
Peak output will stand at about 700hp and 737 pound-feet of torque. It's notable that the Zonda R produces 750hp; however, the new C9 still has enough power to compete with Ferrari and Lamborghini.
Pagani described the C9 to be a completely new car, from concept, weight distribution, materials and dynamics. In fact, it will feature more than 3,770 new parts among which are a carbon-titanium chassis, specially developed Pirelli tires and Bosch electronics.
While styling will be very similar to the Zonda, the C9's overall proportions will be smaller. The C9 is anticipated to be priced from $1.2 million.
