Porsche celebrates start for the development of the Experience Centre in Shanghai

Article by Christian Andrei, on November 14, 2012

A foundation ceremony took place for the Porsche Experience Centre in Shanghai, officiated by Porsche China and Shanghai International Circuit Co., Ltd. The facility is located right beside the current Formula One track at the Shanghai International Circuit (SIC). This would be the first Porsche Experience Centre in China as well as the entire Asia.

It joins an elite group of Porsche Experience Centres located in Leipzig, Germany; Silverstone, England. With this facility, Porsche is giving its customers and fans the chance to find out how enjoyable driving is. They also get to sharpen their skills on the track by being able to drive the entire range of premium Porsche cars. Construction is expected to be completed by late 2013.

The Experience Centre is slated to open by early 2014. Porsche China will directly manage and run the facility. Porsche invested over 135 million RMB to build this facility. The Porsche Experience Centre is a 100,000 square-metre driving facility, which includes a handling circuit, slalom module and low-friction circle - and a three-storey Training Centre. With the use of both, visitors will be able to improve their driving knowledge and technique.

Porsche will give guests the opportunity to experience the superior performance and capabilities of all Porsche cars. Porsche has always made it its goal to offer enthusiasts these opportunities regularly and conveniently.

Since more than a year ago, Porsche has started to prepare for this endeavour. The marque signed a deal with Shanghai International Circuit Co, Ltd on February to put the Porsche Experience Centre beside the SIC, one of the most famous destinations for motorsport in China where the F1 Chinese Grand Prix takes place annually.
