Renault unveils the Clio Renaultsport 200 Raider

Article by Christian Andrei, on October 1, 2011

Renaultsport is launching a highly exclusive, limited edition of its highly awarded hot hatch called the Clio Renaultsport 200 Raider. It is based on the standard Renaultsport, but comes rich in extra features. This vehicle is limited only to 50 units for customers in the United Kingdom. The Raiser is Renault's first highly exclusive car even among the most expensive vehicles currently available in the market. It comes in a matte Renault i.d. paintwork finish.

The choice of matte Diavolo Red or Stealth Grey is contrasted by a gloss black finish to the rear spoiler, roof, rear diffuser, F1-style front blade and door mirrors.

The gloss black finish is also applied to the 18-inche "Interlagos" alloy wheels, an inch larger in diameter compared with standard 200 wheels. They are fitted with Bridgestone RE 050A tires, like those used on the record-breaking Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy.

Naturally, the acclaimed Cup chassis is a standard feature with a lower ride height, quicker steering ratio, stiffer springs and dampers and red finish to the Brembo brake callipers.

The finish on its exterior is rounded off by extra-tinted tailgate and rear-side windows and a Raider badge. In the interiors, leather upholstered Recaro seats are matched with the zinc grey finish to the centre console and fascia inserts.

A white rev counter provides the contrast. Other features include USB and Bluetooth connectivity, Renaultsport carpet mats and automatic climate control. The units have a numbered plate, which identifies the number in the 50 production run.

Those who are interested in the Raider can have their unit with a no-cost option of either Carminat TomTom Live satellite navigation or the Renaultsport Monitor, which is the on-board telemetry system of the company. Customers can start ordering the Raider from the end of October. Further details and pricing will be announced.

Renault Sport is unveiling Renault Clio R.S. Ange & Démon. This is a limited edition of the Clio R.S. that features the renowned Cup chassis and a wicked assortment of equipment. And signaling a first for Renault, it has two matte body colors.

• The one-of-a-kind features on this special edition of the Clio R.S. include the matte paints, black 18-inch alloy wheels, a black roof, leather-covered Recaro bucket seats, and Bridgestone RE 050A tires.

• There will only be 666 units to be produced and these will be sold all over the world. Orders will be accepted starting on September 30 in France. Estimated price for French buyers is pegged at €27, 990.

• Clio R.S. "Ange & Démon" will be shown at the Lyon Motor Show in France starting on October 7, 2011. The first cars will be out in the market by Halloween.

Clio Renault Sport product manager Jean-Maxime Boulanger says that the Clio R.S. Ange & Démon is an instant eye-catcher. It has two personalities: the 'bad boy' appearance, 203 hp of power, and Cup chassis mixed in with meticulously picked equipment. The Clio R.S. "Ange & Démon" is sure to catch the fancy of the carmaker's customers because of its tempting design as well as its outstanding performance.

Original equipment

The Clio R.S. "Ange & Démon" represents several firsts for the Clio brand. You have two colors: the Matt Hologramme Grey and the Matt Toro Red, as well as the Givre Nacré. All of these colors will look great with the glossy black roof, rear spoiler, upper tailgate, F1-style blades, rear diffuser, exterior door mirrors and door handles.

The rear and tailgate windows are tinted, while you have glossy black 18" Interlagos wheels with the complementing red Brembo brake calipers. These also sport the R.S. badge at the center and uses Bridgestone RE50A tires. This is the same setup seen on the Mégane R.S. Trophy, and it helped make the Megane set the record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Great looking interior

The interiors exude warmth, which contrasts with the cold effect of the outside styling. You have Recaro bucket seats that are covered by leather. You have a metal gear lever knob that gives you a good grip. Under the hand brake, you can find a numbered plate, while you have a full array of comfort equipment all around the cabin, such as a hands free card, automated climate control, a Bluetooth Plug & Music radio, electrically folding door mirrors, and protective floor mats. You can also opt between Carminat TomTom Live navigation system and the R.S. Monitor option, the carmaker's telemetry system. You could also find the "Ange & Démon" logo on the quarter window pillar at the back.

This gloss black finish is also applied to the 18" 'Interlagos' alloy wheels, one inch larger diameter than the standard 200 wheels. These are fitted with Bridgestone RE 050A tyres, as used on the record-breaking Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy. Renault Clio R.S. "Ange & Démon": a devilish Clio with the face of an angel

Renault Sport is launching Renault Clio R.S. "Ange & Démon", a limited series of Clio R.S. with the celebrated Cup chassis and a wicked array of equipment. It also innovates with two matt body colours, a first for Renault.

• Unique features include matt paintwork, a black roof, black 18-inch alloy wheels, Bridgestone RE 050A tyres and leather-upholstered Recaro bucket seats.
• A fiendish 666 units will be sold worldwide, with orders opening on September 30 in France. Price in France: €27, 990.
• Clio R.S. "Ange & Démon" will be presented at the Lyon Motor Show (France) from October 7, 2011. The first vehicles will be in the showrooms for Halloween.

Jean-Maxime Boulanger, Product Manager for Clio Renault Sport, confesses: "The Clio R.S. "Ange & Démon" is a version of Renault Clio R.S. that exercises an instant attraction.
It has a contradictory personality, with its 'bad boy' looks, Cup chassis, 203 hp of performance, but with an array of carefully selected equipment. Clio R.S. "Ange & Démon" will give wings to our purist customers who will be bewitched by its tempting looks but reassured by its good manners and day-to-day competence."

Opting for original equipment
Clio R.S. "Ange & Démon" illustrates a series of "firsts" for Clio. Real matt paintwork with Matt Hologramme Grey will be joined later by Matt Toro Red. The more sober Givre Nacré is also available in the line-up. These colours complement the gloss black roof, upper tailgate, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, F1-style blade in the front bumper, the door handles and exterior door mirrors. The rear side and tailgate windows are dark-tinted. The gloss black 18" Interlagos wheels, as seen on the late Mégane R26.R., show the red Brembo brake callipers. The wheels display the R.S. badge in the centre and are shod with Bridgestone RE50A tyres. On Mégane R.S. Trophy, these tyres contributed to the record set by Renault Sport on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

An equally tempting interior
The warm interior ambience contrasts with the deliberately cold effect of the exterior. The driver is welcomed by the leather-upholstered Recaro bucket sites. The unique metal gear lever knob provides a good grip. Next to it, a numbered plate sits quietly under the hand brake. The cabin features a full range of comfort equipment including a hands free card, a Bluetooth® Plug & Music radio, automatic climate control, protective floor mats, and electrically-folding door mirrors. Customers buying Clio R.S. "Ange & Démon" can choose between the R.S. Monitor option – Renault Sport's onboard telemetry system– or the built-in navigation system Carminat TomTom Live® at no extra cost.
Last, an "Ange & Démon" logo on the left hand side of the rear quarter window pillar identifies this limited series, which will be released in 666 units worldwide.

THE CLIO R.S. HISTORY
Launched in second-half 2006, Clio R.S. is produced in Dieppe (FR) and now marketed on four continents: Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania. Developed by Renault Sport Technologies, Clio R.S. has always sought to set the standard in comparative tests of sports models. As part of this approach, the design of the car has been refined over time. Clio R.S. has gained many improvements, particularly with its 2009 restyling. Targeted special series such as the R.S. 20th Anniversary or emblematic Gordini R.S. have continuously renewed its momentum on all markets.
Depending on the market area, Clio R.S. Angel & Demon will take different names and feature slight variations in equipment. Called "Raider" in the UK, "Sport Auto Edition" in Germany or "Legend" in Spain, it will deliver the same thrills, responding to the expectations of highly demanding sports vehicle customers in around fifteen countries.
