Rendered Speculation: 2015 Volvo XC90 Polestar looks pretty awesome in smurf blue

Article by Christian A., on August 28, 2014

The 2015 Volvo XC90 has just been unveiled two days ago but there are no words of a possible Polestar edition of the new SUV. Still, that didn’t stop X-Tomi Design to work its magic on the stylish Swedish SUV and transform it into a blue menace. As you can see from the photos, the XC90 became even more aggressive thanks to a new front bumper with larger air intakes and to the addition of a new set of rocker panels.

Moreover, the vehicle received a new set of five-spoke alloy wheels as well as a smurf blue exterior finish. For those who don’t know, the 2015 Volvo XC90 comes a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines but also with a plug-in hybrid version.

The T6 turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine generates 320 hp (239 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. Meanwhile, the T5 petrol engine develops 254 hp (289 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.

The D4 diesel engine pumps out 190 hp (142 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque and returns a fuel economy of 56.5 US mpg or 5 l/100 km. A power powerful twin-turbodiesel D5 engine is available with 225 hp (168 kW) and 470 Nm (347 lb-ft) of torque, while returning a fuel economy of 39.2 mpg or 6 l/100 km.

The most interesting addition remains the XC90 T8 Twin Engine Plug-in Hybrid, which arrives with a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder petrol engine that powers the front wheels, while an 80 hp electric motor delivers its power to the rear wheels.

The hybrid system delivers a combined output of 400 hp (298 kW) and 640 Nm (472 lb-ft). As expected, the XC90 T8 Twin Engine Plug-in Hybrid can also be a pure electric car but only for up to 20 miles or 40 km.

Pricing for the 2015 Volvo XC90 T6 AWD starts at $48,900 in the United States, while the 2015 XC90 First Edition is priced at $65,900.
