Report: Toyota to create ‘Gs’ performance division

Article by Christian Andrei, on August 25, 2010

A Toyota report these days doesn't necessarily have to be bad. On a lighter note, Toyota displayed several amazing cars in its booth at the Tokyo Auto Salon a couple weeks ago. These cars were nothing like what Toyota has ever shown.

On display were slick interpretations of future and existing models, which were sporty and had several significant performance enhancements.

These cars had the G's logo with the words "Toyota G Sports" written underneath. G's is a new brand from Toyota that specializes in complete conversions of Toyota's existing products.

GS will gradually roll out cars in mid-2010. For your customization needs, you can go to G's as it will be the company's in-house tuning division.

G's stands out from other OEM tuner divisions like AMG, Volkswagen's R, BMW's M and even the Lexus F cars due to the customization angle as customers will be able to choose their level of tweaks.

Modifications to the cars will be applied to the exterior, interior and to the mechanical components, most notably the suspension.

As compared to Modelista, which tunes Toyota cars with subtle body kits and slight performance upgrades, and TRD that mainly supplies performance parts, G's will focus on high-end tuning for street use. G's will create more expensive cars than the Modelista currently produces.
