Rolls-Royce names Fintan Knight as director of sales and marketing

Article by Christian A., on May 29, 2014

Rolls-Royce has tapped Fintan Knight as its new director of sales and marketing, succeeding Jolyon Nash effective June 1, 2014. According to Rolls-Royce chief executive Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, release Knight’s experience with Infiniti and Audi renders him "uniquely positioned" to lead the carmaker’s sales and marketing team as it bids to consolidate and gain a global footprint.

Knight earned a degree in economics from the University of Western Australia and then worked for BMW in Melbourne. In 1995, he was hired by Audi in Germany, responsible for the brand’s retail networks in Europe, South Africa and Southeast Asia.

He also helped reorganize the brand’s dealer network in Japan. In 2002, he was made in charge of marketing Audi’s first SUV, the Q7. His role was then expanded to include sales, marketing, aftersales and financial responsibility for the Asian region, excluding China.

He also served as managing director of Audi’s operations in Ireland. In 2011, he became commercial director at Lamborghini of the VW Group, given the responsibility of all commercial aspects of the supercar brand. Knight was tapped as chief of Infiniti’s operations in Europe in May 2013 and exited just last month.

Speaking from the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood in West Sussex, CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös said, “We are delighted to welcome Fintan Knight to the Rolls-Royce family. His considerable experience provides him with the perfect base to further build and expand on the successes achieved by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars over the past decade. Our brand’s global footprint has expanded dramatically over the past few years and the time has come to consolidate and build further business growth on the back of this expansion. Fintan is uniquely positioned to lead our sales and marketing team on this journey.” [source: Rolls-Royce]
