Setra, now a brand of Daimler AG, has set a new milestone for its buses by delivering its 2,000th bus to the Swiss Confederation. Setra delivered its milestone bus, a S 431 DT TopClass 400 double-deck coach, to Ernst Marti AG, a bus operator based in Kallnach, in the Canton of Berne. Ernst Marti will be using the milestone bus to service its long-distance holiday routes to Italy and Spain.

S 431 DT TopClass 400 double-deck coach is a three-axle vehicle that has four-star classification and could accommodate up to 78 passengers. Setra endowed the 13.89-metre-long luxury touring coach with a multi-channel audio system and an on-board galley kitchen that comes with a 40-cup coffee machine and a microwave oven, complementing the bus’ already comfortable interior appointments.

Setra boasts that the S 431 DT TopClass 400 double-deck coach has a high level of passenger safety. The bus maker fitted in a range of safety features including a remote-controlled cruise control with Active Brake Assist and the Lane Assistant system, as well as an automatic fire extinguishing system installed in the engine compartment.

With the arrival of the S 431 DT, Ernst Marti now operates eight Setra double-deck coaches in its fleet. Ernst Marti managing director Heinrich Marti said they always feel that Setra is seriously taking its views. He also praised Setra's flagship model, the S 431 DT, saying that the double-deck coach provides the “most complete and best-rounded concept overall,” with just the right total package.

Lothar Holder, Head of Sales Setra Buses & Coaches EvoBus GmbH, also underlined the open and constructive cooperation with the Ernst Marti AG company, which operates a total fleet of 40 touring coaches - all of them Setra models: "Since the purchase of the very first Setra S 6 in 1956 our companies have been linked by a strong partnership, if not to say a friendship."
