Silverstone Auctions will be auctioning three stylish Fiat models from the 1960’s at the Race Retro & Classic Car Sale slated on Feb. 23, 2013 at Stoneleigh Park. Two Fiat Abarths and an original red 500 model that has already logged 39,000 miles in travel will be placed under the hammer in the event.
Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, remarked that they had successfully sold Fiat models at their previous auctions, including one that was previously owned by the Prime Minister. A must-have for Italian sports car collectors is the extra-rare 1965 Fiat Abarth OT 1000 Coupé, which is estimated to cost between £25,000 and £30,000.
The model boasts of a bodywork that is in excellent condition and an interior that remains fresh. The younger Abarth model, a 695 SS, is estimated at the same price. It features a period Abarth driver's seat, Abarth/Jaeger rev counter and dials, plus 4-point rear roll hoop. It also features Abarth rubber bonnet catches.
The 1968 Fiat 500 is estimated at between £7,000 and £9,000. It was fully restored to its current form two years ago. Its appeal is built on the fact that the vehicle is a ‘round dial’ example produced as a left hand drive model for the Italian market. Silverstone Auctions will be placing under the hammer almost 80 models -- including race and rally cars as well as classic vehicles on the Race Retro & Classic Car Sale.
