Mercedes-Benz revealed the fact that its impressive SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife ("north loop") in a record time of 7:56.234 minutes. Moreover, the German manufacturer said in its press release that this is the first electrically-powered series production vehicle to lap the Nurburgring in under eight minutes.
The SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive was launched back in June 2013 and comes with four electrical motors that delivering an astonishing 552 kW (751 hp) and maximum torque of 1000 Nm (738 lb-ft). As a result, it zooms from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h or 155 mph.
Developed in-house by Mercedes-AMG, the SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive comes with a price tag of 416,500 euros. For the moment, the SLS AMG Electric Drive is not planned for sales and distribution in the United States.
