Tesla Model X crossover will be unveiled on February 9

The Tesla Model X crossover was expected to debut last month but Elon Musk now said that its premiere will be on Feb. 9 at the automaker’s design studio located in Hawthorne, Calif. In 2006, the Tesla Roadster had its launch at the oceanfront town's airport in Santa Monica. It was attended by the major personalities in the Los Angeles Basin, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was still the governor then.

The electric crossover project was delayed due to several revisions, internal conflicts, and other issues related to running a real car company.

The automaker is prepared to focus on a crossover version of the same platform as its Roadster production is nearly finished and the Model S sedan is about to go on sale. Seven-passenger seating is used on the Model X, the same as with the electric saloon.

It’s expected to be more spacious than an Audi Q7. It’s also claimed to be faster than a Porsche 911. It will offer powertrain and battery options similar to those offered on the S so there will likely be a decrease in the range due to the additional weight and drag.

Tesla hopes to produce 15,000 units annually, lower than the 20,000 annual production for the Model S. Tesla’s Fremont, Calif., plant will build the new crossover. This facility had been where the General Motors/Toyota NUMMI joint venture was based. Tesla hints that the production Model X will arrive in 2014.

The Tesla Model X was built for an electric run from scratch. This is meant to be the safest car on the world's roads. The company conducted crash tests that show that the Model X can easily get a five-star safety rating for all safety categories, and this is the only SUV to achieve such a feat.

Without a huge gasoline engine under the bonnet, the Model X has a big crumple zone that can absorb any impact. What’s more, the battery is placed on the floor, giving the vehicle a very low center of gravity and minimizing the risk of rollovers that plagues many SUVs. Then you have pillars made of aluminum that helps protect passengers and the driver while also making the roof very rigid.

The Tesla Model X has automatic emergency brakes as well as side collision avoidance to help you avoid accidents. Tesla is the only carmaker that has the AEB system that comes as standard and works even at high speeds.

All Model X vehicles have a forward-focused camera, 360 degree sonar sensors and radar. These are the components that make autopilot possible. The Model X also benefits from over-the-air updates for the software for you to get the most out of these features and a variety of convenience and safety features such as the Autopark and Autosteer. These take you a step closer to having a purely self-driving car.

Tesla Model X is the cleanest SUV when it comes to the interiors. The front fascia has an air duct that uses a HEPA filter system that lets through only the cleanest air to enter the cabin.

The Inside

Model X Falcon Wing doors give you the easiest and most convenient way to enter and exit the vehicle. It allows easy access to the back rows. Parents will have an easier time securing their kids to a car seat.

These doors open up and then move out of the way and with its double hinges, only 30 centimeters of space is used. It has inductive, sonar, and capacitive sensors that help make sense of its environment and avoid anything that might be loitering around the car. This feature allows you to park in very tight spots.

What’s more, the door automatically closes or opens when you approach the Model X or exits from it. No further need to touch the door!
