Toyota FJ Cruiser receives some improvements for the 2013MY

Article by Christian Andrei, on September 18, 2012

The 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser will be slightly modified; however, the automaker is offering a new color scheme for the Trail Teams Special Edition. The FJ Cruiser will be available with standard power outside mirrors with illuminated markers as well as a new Magma Red exterior color. But what could be considered as the highlight for the new model year is the Trail Teams Special Edition Package, which includes a standard Off-Road Package and is available with a new color, Cement Grey, which replaces Radiant Red.

The exterior’s appearance is sportier with black bumpers, front grille, and door handles. Meanwhile, the interior has accents on the door trim, steering wheel, and fabric seat inserts that have a Cement Grey finish too.

The FJ Cruiser will also be getting a cyclone pre-air cleaner that could trap sand and dirt. The Trail Teams package improves the chassis performance of the vehicle due to its trail-tuned Bilstein shock absorbers, a rear differential lock with Active Traction Control system, engine, fuel tank, and transfer cases, skid plates, and rock rails. In addition, the vehicle rides on 16-inch Toyota Racing Development (TRD) wheels that are covered with 265/75ZR16 All-Terrain tires from BF Goodrich.

The FJ Cruiser is offered in either 4×2 or 4×4 configurations and comes with a 4.0-liter V6 engine with 260-hp and 272 lb-ft of torque.

With regards to technology, the vehicle has the following: USB Port, iPod connectivity, and XM Satellite Radio Capability. Consumers also have the option to boost its towing capacity with a Class Four hitch receiver, which enables the vehicle to trailer up to 5,000 lbs.
