Earlier this month, the celebrated Fiat 500 basked under the intense attention it received at Diesel's xXx international 30th birthday festivities. A concept of the special-edition Fiat 500 by DIESEL was exhibited just outside the party in London, where more than three thousand fortunate ticket holders partied all night at matter nightclub in the O2 Arena in Docklands.
The model of the limited edition 500 by DIESEL, of which only 10,000 will ever be manufactured, was designed by Fiat Style Centre designers in conjunction with DIESEL design team led by Lars Schwartz. The original concept was to design an Urban Survival Vehicle, fit for town traffic, yet exhibiting the characteristics of its substitute young brand fans. The 500 by DIESEL, which was patterned on a 500 Sport model, comes in metallic shades of brown, black, and green.
Its exterior attribute includes a 16-inch alloy wheels with DIESEL brand logo, yellow painted brake calipers, (optional on the 100 bhp 1.4 model), exceptional side trim with the brand DIESEL on it, and a special mirror fairing on the doors. The interior is finished in special denim fabric upholstery.
The brand logo can be found on the gear knob and instrument panel and a special pouch appears on the side of the two front seats suggestive the fifth pocket on DIESEL jeans. The 30th year anniversary was celebrated with the active participation of Paris Hilton, Jade Jagger, Roisin Murphy, and Kelly Osbourne.
The music was furnished by a performance of 30 bands playing a musical relay, Creative Experiment,led by 30 artists that included producer Mark Ronson, Patrick Wolf, Friendly Fires, and The View.
As part of the Diesel xXx charity auction, a one-off vehicle which was signed by all the 30 event participating artists will be up for sale in which the Livity Trust will be the sole beneficiary of the proceeds. There were around eighteen other important cities that accommodated similar prominent celebrations last October 11, including Amsterdam, Helsinki, Milan, New York, Paris, and Tokyo.
The DIESEL 500 model will be offered with all three Euro 5-ready power units in the Fiat series the 69 bhp 1.2 unit, 75 bhp 1.3 Multijet unit with DPF, and 100 bhp 1.4 16v unit. Price tags start at £11,400 ($18,624 or 14,443). According to Elena Bernadelli, director for marketing of Fiat UK, The DIESEL party was a great success and proved a perfect opportunity to show the new 500 by DIESEL.
