Vauxhall offers Snow Socks for winter driving

Article by Christian Andrei, on November 26, 2010

To make winter driving easier, automotive producers are offering a range of accessories. You might want to check out the “Snow Socks” from Vauxhall. This is a set of tire covers that are meant to boost the grip in snowy and icy conditions.

Sophie Thomas, Vauxhall Accessories Manager, said that many were caught out by the big freeze last year, and so it is necessary to be prepared for what’s in store this winter.

Thomas said that Snow Socks are the “perfect solution” for when there’s a sudden change to icy conditions as they could be fitted and stored easily.

She claims that if they are used properly, they could last for years. It’s far easier to handle the covers (which are TUV-approved) than snow chains. They’re also more efficient than snow tires. Users can quickly slip them over the driving wheels.

The Snow Socks use a textured fabric that sticks to dry snow and ice. Its fibers on the covers are arranged at the right angles in the direction of travel, offering a high level of traction on the road.

Those who want to get their own set could go to Vauxhall Retailers and should be prepared to pay from GBP49,95. It should be mentioned though that the Snow Socks are suitable for all makes and models, and would not only fit Vauxhall vehicles.

With so many of us caught out by the big freeze last year, it is important to be better prepared for whatever this winter will throw at us,” said Sophie Thomas, Vauxhall Accessories Manager. “If we need to make it home from work, get to the train station or pick the kids up from school after a sudden change to icy conditions, Snow Socks are a perfect solution. They’re easily fitted and stored, and, if used according to the guidelines, will last for years.
