Vauxhall still top-seller in Scotland in first nine months of 2012

Article by Anita Panait, on October 9, 2012

Vauxhall remains the top-selling carmaker in Scotland for the first nine months of 2012 and for the month of September, according to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. Vauxhall managed to sell over 12,000 cars for the first nine months of 2012 and more than 2,000 units for September in Scotland.

In addition to that, twice as many Vauxhall vehicles were registered in September in Scotland than its closest competitor.

Vauxhall’s Corsa supermini is currently the best-selling car in Scotland, while the Astra small family car and the Zafira MPV topped their respective segments both in September and in the first nine months of 2012.  The Insignia large family car, meanwhile, is the topseller, in its segment in the Jannuary-September period.

Gordon Hannen, Vauxhall’s Regional Operations Manager for Scotland, said the carmaker is delighted for being the top-selling carmaker in Scotland. Hannen added that Vauxall is happy with Corsa’s position as the number one car in Scotland.

Vauxhall has been the market leader in Scotland for the past five years, partly thanks to a distinct Lifetime Warranty that assures first owners of comprehensive coverage as long they own the car. Vauxhall is also the lead sponsor of the Scotland National Football Team. Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles also managed to achieve a sales feat in September, selling more vans in the United Kingdom to small businesses than any other carmaker.
