Volkswagen Fleet Services and multi-awarded landscape photographer Harry Cory Wright has produced a miniature coffee table book to celebrate the debut of the up! -- the automaker's new city car. The book explores the roads in the United Kingdom that only the driver of this vehicle can truly appreciate.
Volkswagen Fleet traveled 3,000 miles throughout the British Isles in search for 18 of the thinnest roads, which can make drivers seriously consider hitting 'New Route' on the sat-nav.
The up! is designed for these kinds of roads, including narrow country lanes and tight city streets. Tracey Rossetti, communications manager of Volkswagen Fleet, commented that the book illustrates the "beautiful scenery" around some of Britain's smallest roads.
Rossetti further stated that the book is a "perfect" companion for the drivers of the up! The unique book provides the GPS coordinate of each picture of a narrow road. Fleet Managers who will test drive the up! will have one of the books prior to their demonstration.
They can input the coordinate of the nearest narrow road into the 'Maps & More' system on their up! Maps & More is a portable multi-functional infotainment system that is completely new for this vehicle model.
It comes with a navigation system, vehicle information displays, a media player and hands-free telephone unit. The apps can also be used to customize Maps & More in order to suit the individual requirements of the driver.
Maps & More is attached to a sturdy, high quality bracket above the center console, which enables it to communicate with the vehicle's electronics network. It provides the most systematic form of integration of portable devices in the market. It comes as standard equipment on High up! as well as the black and white special editions. On the Move up! and Take up!, it is available for only £275.
