Volkswagen launches entry-level Scirocco

Starting January 4, the Volkswagen Scirocco will be available. The two-door compact coupe, which boasts an efficient new entry-level engine, is equipped with the 1.4-liter TSI 122 PS engine. Prices start at £18,860 RRP on the road. The 1.4-liter TSI 122 PS unit develops 147 lbs ft of torque channeled via a six-speed manual gearbox, through the front wheels.

The car can go from 0 to 62 mph in 9.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 124 mph. Due to the engine's small capacity, the Scirocco returns a healthy combined economy figure of 44.1 mpg and CO2 emissions of 146 g/km, making it the cleanest petrol model in the range. This new entry-level model boasts a wide-ranging list of standard equipment.

This includes a set of 17-inch Donington alloy wheels and safety features: ABS, ESP (Electronic Stabilization Program) and six airbags. For £765 more, the buyer can get the Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC) on this model.

For the New Year, Volkswagen will have a new optional styling pack available on Scirocco GT models. For £950, you can get the new Lugano Black package consists of a set of 10-spoke 19-inch Luganoâ alloy wheels finished in gloss black with additional Piano Black decorative inserts throughout the cabin.

NEW YEAR, NEW ENGINE AND STYLING PACK FOR SCIROCCO

From next year, the Volkswagen Scirocco will be available to order with an efficient new entry-level engine. From 4 January 2010, it will be possible to order the two-door compact coupé with the 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS engine, with prices starting at £18,860 RRP on the road.

The 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS unit develops 147 lbs ft of torque channelled via a six-speed manual gearbox, through the front wheels. Acceleration from 0 to 62 mph takes 9.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 124 mph.

Thanks in part to the engine’s small capacity, the Scirocco returns a healthy combined economy figure of 44.1 mpg and CO2 emissions of 146 g/km, making it the cleanest petrol model in the range.

The new entry-level model benefits from a comprehensive list of standard equipment including a six-CD autochanger with iPod preparation, rain and dusk sensors, a multifunction computer, air conditioning and 17-inch ‘Donington’ alloy wheels as well as a host of safety features including ABS, ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) and six airbags. Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC) is also available on this model as a £765 option.

Volkswagen has also announced a new optional styling pack available on Scirocco GT models for the New Year. The new ‘Lugano Black’ package comprises 10-spoke 19-inch ‘Lugano’ alloy wheels finished in gloss black with additional Piano Black decorative inserts throughout the cabin, and costs £950.
