Article by Christian A., on September 20, 2011

Consumers’ needs vary with the change in seasons. What Volkswagen UK recommends is its limited edition Berghaus model that had been added to the California lineup. Volkswagen designed the California Berghaus for consumers who love to explore the outdoors with a ton of comfort and with style too. The limited edition Berghaus model comes with all the comfort that standard California models have to offer.

This four-seater has been equipped with an electrically-operated pop-up roof, a fully-functioning integrated kitchen in the rear living space including a fridge and gas-powered cooker as well as a fold-away table and chairs.

It gets a long list of equipment as standard but the California now also gets a bike rack, side-mounted awning, 18-inch bi-color ‘Dakar’ alloy wheels, metallic paint, Berghaus-branded carpet mats and waterproof seat covers and Berghaus badging.

All these models are powered by a 2.0-liter BiTDI 180 engine and a six-speed manual transmission. When combined, the vehicle could return 36.2 mpg on the combined cycle with a CO2 emissions rating of 205 g/km. Sprinting from zero to 62 mph takes 12.4 seconds.

All the California models come with an extensive range of safety devices such as anti-lock brakes (ABS), traction control (TCS), engine braking control (EBC) and Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP). The Berghaus model is the first ever special edition California. It costs £47,995 on the road (inclusive of VAT).
