Volvo Cars names Alain Visser as new Senior Vice President

Volvo Cars has appointed Alain Visser as its new Senior Vice President for Marketing Sales & Customer Service, effective July 1, 2013. Visser will be replacing Doug Speck, who decided to pursue a new career opportunity in the United States. As part of his appointment, Visser will also become a member of the Volvo Cars Executive Management Team.

Visser joined Volvo Cars last year. He is currently the carmaker’s Vice President for Sales & Marketing. Håkan Samuelsson, President and chief executive of Volvo Cars welcomed Visser to the Executive Management of Volvo Cars. He remarked that Visser has already started a positive change process within the sales organization by improving brand execution, resulting to increasing speed and sales.

Speck, on the other hand, joined Volvo’s Executive Management Team in 2011 when he was president for Volvo Cars North America. Samuelsson noted that since the start of Speck’s assignment, Volvo's performance in China has been on a positive trend.

This is the main reason why after stepping down from his current position as Senior Vice President for Marketing Sales & Customer Service, Speck will serve as a consultant for the carmaker until the end of 2013.

According to Samuelsson, since joining the Executive Team, Speck has played an integral role in the development of the carmaker’s marketing, sales and customer service organization.
