Winner Sport: the best lightweight driver’s shoe ever made

Article by Christian Andrei, on March 21, 2012

If you’re in the market for a sleek aerodynamic shoe, then you’re in luck as two famous British brands have teamed up to create the Winner Sport – the best lightweight driver’s shoe ever made. The Winter Sport is the product of the collaboration between Aston Martin’s Director of Design Marek Reichman and John Lobb’s Creative Director Andrés Hernández.

Like any Aston Martin model, this shoe comes with some finely-tuned details, embodying the craftsmanship and quality that both brands are known for. Winner Sport, which is based on John Lobb’s 8695, is made from full-grain calfskin and has a supple sheepskin lining.

For more comfort, soft padding was added around the ankle. The automotive design cues of Aston Martin are evident with the metallic eyelets that are punched with a wheel of fine holes. Winner Sport is different from John Lobb’s shoes that are welted and more formal. It has been built with a specially-engineered bonded rubber sole that goes under the shoe to provide a sleek line and a sporting feel. Winner Sport comes in several color combinations.

Graphite Grey, Winter Wheat, Frost White and Saddle Tan are made with the Sporty Stratos White rubber sole. Meanwhile, Storm Black, Bitter Chocolate, Westminster Green and Aurora Blue are built with Racy Fire Red rubber soles.

The Winner Sport appearance is completed with coordinating red and white laces. A preview of the Winner Sport will be displayed during the opening of the new Aston Martin W-One Store in London’s Park Lane and this March at the John Lobb Jermyn Street. By May 2012, selected John Lobb and Aston Martin stores worldwide will offer Winter Sport.
