AutoAdapt preparing the first electric Fiat 500

AutoAdapt, the Swedish company, has come up just this week with it first battery-propelled Fiat 500 at its Gothenberg plant. It is working in tandem with Alelion Batteries and Fiat to come up with series production of several Fiat models powered by electricity. The firm intends to produce 100 units of the Fiat 500 this year and 300 in the succeeding year. Rolling chassis without any powertrain are provided by Fiat, while lithium batters, power electronics and electric drive hardware are installed by AutoAdapt. There are three battery options that the company is offering as options: 60, 90 and 120 mile ranges. After the release of the Fiat 500, AutoAdapt will also bring in electric variants of the Punto, Grande Punto and Panda. It is claimed by Alelion that its lithium ion batteries have been tested to 22,000 charge cycles without performance deterioration. It is also claimed that the batteries work well in Sweden's cold weather environment.
