Automotive Performance Services upgrades the Audi A5 3.0 TDI

Audi A5

Automotive Performance Services (APS) has removed the wraps around its own performance Audi diesel since the plan for an Audi R8 diesel has been scrapped. They have released two tuning packs for the Audi A5 3.0 TDI model which comes with a standard 230hp and 370lb-ft of top torque. With the first stage of the tuning pack power output has been bumped to 292hp and 430lb-ft, providing superb driving performance. To achieve the 55 hp bump in power the ECU was remapped enabling it to adjust fuel flow to the powerplant for more power output. Furthermore, the maximum speed limiter, of only up to 155 mph, was removed extending the top speed of the vehicle.

It is remarkable that, according to APS, the car can still hit a combined average of 40mpg. With the second stage APS tuning package more power output is achieved and that with the addition of a stainless steel sports exhaust system by Milltek that also improves sound.

The first stage of APS tuning comes with a $980 price tag, while the second stage comes at $2,100. The modifications are comes with a guarantee from APS that covers the remaining time of the initial warranty from Audi. The bad news is that both the A5 3.0 TDI and its corresponding APS tuning packages will not be offered in the US although the powerplant may filter to other products of Audi being offered in US markets.
