AWD Bmw 7-Series coming near the end of this year

The Bavarian automaker BMW will be coming out with a series of All-Wheel-Drive powertrain variants of the 7-Series near the end of this year, most likely after the Frankfurt Motor Show this coming September. BMW is already late in its latest introduction considering that German rivals have long been using AWD systems in their flagship models. The new AWD versions of the 7-Series will sport the xDrive designation of BMW once more and will come only in the 407hp (303kW) 750i initially. BMW is not yet planning any AWD diesel 7-Series at present. A high-tech torque distribution system is featured in the 7-Series AWD which distributes 60 percent of the motive force to the rear axle and 40 percent to the front when the car travels in a straight light.
However, when the car twists and turns the ratio is changed to 80 percent rear and 20 percent front for optimum driving dynamics. Moreover, the percentage distribution is contingent on the angle of steering. In addition, the 7-Series also comes with an electronic Hill-Descent control, a new addition for a luxury All-Wheel-Drive saloon.
The 7-Series AWD models will further come with special underbody protection and a taller ride height. For the European market, the AWD option will bump the price of the 7-Series between 2,500 Euros ($3,500) to 2,800 Euros ($4,000). It will also cause the car to come with a curb weight that is 110lbs (50kg) heavier in contrast to the regular model thereby boosting fuel consumption between 1 to 2 miles per gallon.
