Back to the Future’s DeLorean DMC-12 auctioned off for $541,200

One of the DeLorean DMC-12 time machine cars used in the “Back to the Future” trilogy was sold in an auction in November 2011. The car was reportedly auctioned off for $541,200 with part of the proceeds going to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, which provides funds for Parkinson's disease research.
The iconic car was used in the last installment of the trilogy, with several modifications made – different suspension, a Volkswagen V6 engine and a full roll cage.
It is believed that only three of the seven DeLorean DMC-12 modified cars remain today, according to Profiles in History. [source: Hemmings]
