Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corp. and Dongfeng Motor Group Co., two state-owned automakers in China, have commenced recruitment in Germany for their expanding operations. Last May 19, President Han Yonggui of Beijing Automotive led a delegation into the country to recruit 60 to 100 engineering students and engineers, according to the company’s statement. Job fairs were held in Munich, Aachen and Stuttgart.

On the other hand, Dongfeng Motor organized a job fair last Friday in Munich to recruit ethnic Chinese engineers who are currently working in Germany. According to the company, this event was led by its passenger vehicle unit chief, Li Shaozhu, and brought more than 50 engineers in the venue. It’s the first time for Chinese vehicle manufacturers to go into Germany to recruit automotive engineers.

Previously, China-based carmakers like Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. and BAIC conducted similar events in Detroit. SAIC, BAIC and Dongfeng have launched their own models and brands, and are now quickly extending their product lineups and building assembly plants for these vehicles.
