For those who don’t know, Pininfarina, the well-known Italian design house, is not having its best moment as the company has been up for sales for months now. Still, there is a solution as the Chinese company Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corp known as BAIC is making a bid to purchase the Italian design firm. According to Chinese news Web site eeo.com.cn via InsideLine, some unnamed BAIC officials have just returned from Italy, where he talked with Pininfarina about a possible joint work on a next-generation Saab 9-3 that could be introduced at the 2011 Beijing Auto Show. For those who don’t know, BAIC bought the tooling, powertrain technology and intellectual property related to the current Saab 9-3 model. Still, there is some bad news for BAIC. Brilliance Auto and Anhui Jiangling, Mahindra, Bajaj and Magna International are some of the company also interested in the Italian design firm.
