Saab's new sales agent for its vehicles in China will now be Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation (BAIC), according a report from Southern Metropolis Daily, which in turn cited foreign media sources. BAIC replaces Shanghai General Motors. Several dealers had previously indicated that BAIC is likely to become the new agent for Saab vehicles. In December 2009, BAIC had entered a deal with General Motors to obtain the production lines and related assets of the Saab 9-5 model. Shanghai General Motors is a joint venture between SAIC Motor and General Motors. Saab, which was bought by Dutch supercar maker Spyker Cars, said that it will announce its new agent in China anytime now. Adrian Hallmark, Saab's executive director of sales, said that Saab anticipates annual sales of over 10,000 units in China. To date, there has been no official confirmation of this report.
