Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corporation shows interest in Volvo

It was recently reported that the latest bidder for the ailing brand Volvo is Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corporation (BAIC). The information said that representatives from BAIC will be coming over to the Swedish carmaker‚ headquarters to meet with its officials and tour its facilities particularly the R&D and manufacturing departments. Early this month the Chinese company became the news in Europe when it expressed interest in Opel. Other Chinese companies that show interest consisted of Chongqing Changan Automobile Company, the Partner of Ford in China, Cherry Automobile, and Geely Automobile Holdings, There are reports saying that BAIC, which has been producing Accent and Mercedes-Benz cars in partnership with Hyundai and Daimler AG, is currently preparing its own first model for sale next year.
