Bentley SUV approval is just a matter of weeks

2013 Bentley Continental GT V8

Bentley chief Wolfgang Dürheimer previously estimated that the automaker will decide the fate of a proposed SUV before 2011 ends but he says now that it will still be a “matter of weeks” before the final decision. He explained, “The end of the year was . . . very crowded.” It’s believed that it isn’t a board approval that Dürheimer is waiting for. He asserts that the company is already “quite advanced” in the designing process.

He said that the market feedback and the time he has spent on examining the situation convinced him that this product has to be pushed further since it has the potential to help Bentley grow. He pointed out that it will be a vital vehicle for the Russian, Chinese, and American markets. This SUV is described to be “on the large side” but won’t be a Hummer, according to Caranddriver.

It’s almost a sure thing that this SUV can be very customizable and buyers can choose from a broad variety of interior materials and from four- or five-passenger configurations. Dürheimer said that driving it is as comfortable as being a passenger in it. At the back, it will be spacious and will have “good” air conditioning, and “everything” that one needs. In other words, the back will be “a comfort zone.” It’s likely to be powered by a W-12 engine but it’s also possible to be equipped with a V-8–powered base model. There’s also the added option of the plug-in hybrid system.
