On just one tank of diesel fuel, UK motoring journalist Tom Ford was able to drive 1,630 kilometers (1,013 miles) on the new BMW 320d EfficientDynamics sedan from the UK to Munich and back. The car was recorded to deliver 68.9mpg overall and to have CO2 emissions of only 109g/km. BMW claims to offer similar figures. Ford said that he didn't drive as if he was on an economy run but only that he drove carefully. While he was on the way to Munich, he was able to achieve 75.9mpg at some point. Ford said that in everyday motoring, being able to drive more than 1,000 miles on one tank of diesel translates to 12 fills a year for the average motorist. When driven normally, he computed that it's about 750 - 800 miles (1,207km - 1,287km) per fill. BMW's EfficientDynamics makes 122kW (163 bhp/ 165 PS) between 3,500rpm to 4,200rpm, and 360Nm of torque between 1,750rpm to 3,000rpm. BMW employed fuel-saving technologies that include Auto Start-Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration, a longer transmission ratio, a lowered suspension and Michelin EnergySaver tires.
