BMW and PSA/Peugeot-Citroen to make hybrid powertrain components

According to the latest reports, it appears that Bmw and PSA/Peugeot-Citroen will extend their engine partnership. The new partnership will include jointly developed hybrid powertrain components for front-wheel-drive vehicles. This means that the both manufacturers will cut costs, and will standardize key components needed to make electric motors used in hybrid vehicles. Still, the manufacturers agreed not to disclose any financial details of the deal.
Some of you may as themselves if the article is wrong, because we are talking about front-wheel-drive vehicles. But, it is now, as Bmw announced its intentions to build smaller front-wheel-drive models which will also be introduced on the United States market.
"Combining both partners' expertise in hybrid technologies will clearly create a competitive advantage," PSA said. Bmw also said that with the introduction of front-wheel-drive models, it could increase its sales numbers by 700,000 units and up to as much as 1 million. "This cooperation will deliver a major contribution towards a competitive cost structure in the field of electrification. It also represents another important step on the road to sustainable mobility," CEO Norbert Reithofer said in a joint statement with PSA CEO Philippe Varin on Monday.
