Bmw future looking good as October sales edge up 2%

2010 Bmw X6 ActiveHybridBMW is strengthening its position as the world’s top premium carmaker and fully expects global sales to continue rising. In October, its automobile division’s sales volume rose 2 percent to 115,252 units. Ian Robertson, group sales and marketing head, said that sales have been “steadily recovering” since April and that the company has been able to make gains in October as planned. He also said that further solid growth is expected in November and December. The core BMW brand reported a 0.4 percent increase in sales to 95,859 in October while Mini sales were up 11.1 percent to 19,323. BMW group sales including Mini and Rolls-Royce dropped 14 percent in the first 10 months of the year to 1.05 million units.

Sales at Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz Cars premium division including Smart went up 4.1 percent to 97,700 in October and dropped 14 percent to 923,300 in the first 10 months.

Meanwhile, Audi said it had raised its 2009 sales target by 5,000 units to 925,000 vehicles after providing reports that volumes increased by 0.4 percent to 82,750 in October.
