Amid the clamor for the BMW M7 model, speculations have come out that the automaker has chosen a different approach and will be building a M770i xDrive. For several years, the 7-Series didn’t become a part of the M lineup because it is more of a luxury sedan than a performance model. There are rumors that in 2015, the model will be added to BMW’s revamped 7-Series lineup and that it will be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 475-hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. Notably, the present 760Li features a V12 with 570-hp and 665 lb-ft of torque. Before you conclude that this can’t be right for this M Performance model, the M770i will be a lot lighter so it would be more agile than the 760Li. Just like the other models with the M name, the M770i would be about 450 lbs lighter than its standard model counterparts as it will use plenty of carbon fiber on its roof, trunk, and hood. It also gets lightweight seats, carbon-ceramic brakes, thin-wall exhaust, and lightweight 20-inch wheels. It’s not the dream M7 model but it’s certainly an M model of some form for the 7-Series.
