BMW shows its 3-Series family through changing times

BMW 3 Series - Six Generations
BMW’s 6th generation 3-series had its U.S. launch at the Detroit Auto Show. Its successes merit a discussion on how the sports sedan came to this point and on how it will be in the future. The small sedan arrived in 1975, just three years after the 5-series, as a successor to the BMW 1600, the 1600ti and the 2002. It came with big windows, short overhangs and a low-slung appearance. At its front, we see company's signature double-kidney grille. Known internally as the E21, it had engines that are from 1.6 liters to 2.3 liters in displacement. The top model made 141 hp and had disc brakes all around. And in 1982, it had come with redesigned sheetmetal and optimized aerodynamics. BMW increased the Track width and dual headlights were offered as standard.
The E30 was offered for sale until 1993 with a choice of four- and six-cylinder engines from 121 hp. In the early part of the 1990s, the third generation made its debut. This truck is quite larger and is slightly compared to predecessor. .On each side of the grille, we see double headlights put together behind glass on each side of the grille. The third-generation doesn’t have anything in common with it. Its power is the result of a selection of four- and six-cylinder engines that range from 111 hp to 300 hp. The third-generation M3 exceeded the 300hp barrier for the first time with 317 hp produced from the 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine.
Growth was noted for the fourth generation. In fact, the width was extended by nearly two inches and it had added three inches to its track. The grill has already been introduced into its engine. The lower headlight comes with a unique look when compared to the 5- and 7-series. Its output was given a boost to 235 hp for the non-M models. Meanwhile, the M3 CSL produced 355 hp. In 2005, the fifth generation was launched – the most powerful series launched. It recently got the award as the World Car of the Year in New York. Known to be the E90, it comes with power that range from 215 hp in the 325i to 444 hp in the M3 GTS. Presented to North America via the Detroit Auto Show, the new BMW 3-series would be more efficient and will have the lowest coefficient of drag in its history. It unveiled a four-cylinder engine that could offer 240 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. Top models stay with the twin-scroll turbocharged I6 to deliver 300 hp. In addition, the dual headlights with LED eyebrows extend to the kidney-grille frame. The 3-series features two large air intakes positioned below the headlights.
