There are reports saying that BMW and Daimler are contemplating platforms and sharing or combining their financial services operation. However, BMW CEO, Norbert Reithofer has urged caution over the proposed plans saying that there should be unmistakable limits to the move. The German brand, which is valued at $24 billion (15.8 Billion Pounds) according to a study, must protect its identity from dilution and damage. The talks with Daimler are currently ongoing, and BMW is willing to fortify its relationship with PSA/Peugeot-Citroen, its French engine-partner. BMW is planning to discuss a possible expansion of the current cooperation with Peugeot. On the other hand, Daimler is calling for a wider partnership with BMW, pointing out that there are just a few areas that are really off-limits.
